Meet the Heart Behind the Stories
Authors Notes
For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of telling stories that would encourage, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of children. After 15 wonderful years as an educator, I have been blessed with the opportunity to bring that dream to life through my first children's book, ALL EYES ON ME, and my companion writing journal, This Is for the Cool.
Teaching has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Every day in the classroom has reminded me that every child deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and encouraged to believe in themselves. My hope is that these books will inspire children to build confidence, embrace their uniqueness, and discover the power of their own voices through reading and writing.
None of this would have been possible without the love and support of my family. I am blessed to be married to my amazing husband, retired Army Sergeant Major LaMont Washington. I thank God for him every single day. His unwavering love, encouragement, and faith in me have been a constant source of strength throughout this journey.
Together, we are the proud parents of five intelligent, talented, and unique children—Camesha, LaMont II, Camry, LaMonica, and LaMontae. Although they are all adults, there is never a dull moment when we're together, and they continue to fill our lives with laughter and joy.
We are also incredibly blessed with three adventurous grandchildren—LaMiyah, Jayvier, and LaMaj. Watching them grow, explore the world, and develop their own personalities is one of life's greatest gifts. They keep us smiling, entertained, and constantly amazed at how quickly they are growing.
Finally, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our family and friends who have supported us throughout the years. Thank you for your prayers, your encouragement, your unwavering belief in me, and for always being there as a listening ear. Your love has helped make this dream a reality.
Above all, I give all glory and honor to God for making this lifelong dream possible. My prayer is that every child who reads these books will be reminded that they are capable, courageous, and created with a purpose.
With gratitude,
Freda Thomas Washington
